God loves the hell out of us

I don't know if I had heard that somewhere before or what, but for some reason, this weekend during the Easter service, this phrase came to mind and I couldn't shake it.

God loves the hell out of us.

I know its a little racy, but so is the human condition. And it's definitely true! Before I really knew and accepted God's love, I was well on my way to creating my own personal hell. Something that would have continued on for eternity if I had died before experiencing Jesus.

But then, something changed, and in this new, transforming relationship with a God who's love is perfect, infinite, and free, He started to love the hell out of me. The old, dead, twisted identity was being remade and renewed and the image was looking more like Jesus than anything else.

It certainly didn't happen overnight, it's more of a work in progress. But slowly and surely, according to His will and timing, God is loving me out of Hell and into Paradise.

So there's my thought for the day:

God loves the hell out of us.

Now somebody, go put it on a t-shirt.
